Privacy Policy
This policy covers askmanwe.com, the Manwe web app at app.askmanwe.com, the Manwe Mac beta, and booked calls. It is written in plain language; the commitments it describes are real product behavior.
Manwe is an independent product. For questions about this policy, contact hello@askmanwe.com. The data controller for personal data processed through Manwe is the Manwe team at that address.
Website hosting: askmanwe.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process standard request data such as IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp, and security metadata for delivery, security, caching, and operational logs.
Analytics: Manwe uses Google Analytics 4 only after you accept analytics. Until you accept, we do not load the GA4 tag from askmanwe.com pages and we do not intentionally set GA cookies. After consent, GA4 may process aggregate usage data such as page path, referrer, session statistics, browser and device information, approximate location, and a pseudonymous client identifier. We do not use GA4 for advertising profiles, retargeting, or selling personal data.
Your control: you can accept, reject, or change analytics consent from . Rejecting analytics keeps GA4 unloaded and attempts to clear existing GA cookies for this site.
Account data: when you create an account at app.askmanwe.com, Clerk handles authentication. Manwe stores the account identifier, email address, plan state, budget state, storage usage, and timestamps needed to operate the product, prevent abuse, and provide support.
Decision runs: when you run Manwe in the web app, we process the question, run settings, generated decision record, generated recordings where available, job status, and related operational metadata. The app stores run rows in Cloudflare D1 and stores generated artifacts such as HTML, Markdown, and status JSON in Cloudflare R2.
Seed material: if you upload or save seed material, Manwe stores the file body in Cloudflare R2 and stores metadata such as filename, content type, size, storage key, and timestamps in Cloudflare D1. When selected for a run, the seed material text is sent to the Manwe server and to the model or research providers needed to generate the output.
Browser storage: the web app uses localStorage for interface state and a recent-record bridge containing browser-visible run metadata such as job ID, topic, mode, created time, optional stakes, and optional seed document name.
Manwe uses Polar for checkout, subscriptions, billing portal access, plan management, invoices, VAT, sales tax, and related payment operations. When you start checkout, Manwe sends Polar your Clerk user ID as the external customer ID, checkout metadata, and your email address when available.
Polar may collect or process customer email, customer ID, subscription ID, order ID, invoice details, billing address, tax information, payment status, and payment processor metadata. Manwe stores the Polar customer ID, subscription ID, subscription status, plan tier, top-up order IDs, billing webhook event IDs, and billing error metadata needed to keep your account in sync. Polar acts as merchant of record for Manwe payments.
Local storage: the Mac beta stores app data on your Mac under Application Support, including a local SQLite database, saved simulations, logs, downloaded model markers, and model-related files. Completed simulations can include your topic, generated agent content, decision records, and text extracted from PDFs, text files, or Markdown files you add to a run.
Worlds and memory: when you use Mac beta features such as Worlds, memory review, What Manwe sees, Lifeline, watchpoints, or scenario playgrounds, related profile/world context, memory suggestions, drafts, promoted memory, relationship context, scenario assumptions, ignored-memory choices, forced outcomes, and outcome notes may be stored locally in the app database. Suggestions and drafts are review material; promoted memory is the context Manwe can use when the relevant worlds are selected.
Keys and settings: API keys for configured providers are stored in macOS Keychain. Provider configuration, onboarding choices, and model settings may be stored in UserDefaults or local app files.
Network behavior: the Mac beta does not include a separate analytics or crash-reporting SDK. It can still make network requests for Sparkle update checks, beta downloads through GitHub, model downloads through Hugging Face or model tooling, web or research queries used by the simulation engine, and cloud model or custom provider calls you configure.
Cloud model runs: when you choose cloud CLI, direct API key, or custom provider modes, the content needed for that run can be sent to the selected provider. That can include your question, source material, extracted document text, intermediate prompts, generated responses, and model settings, under the provider's own terms and privacy practices.
Essential cookies: Clerk sets authentication and session cookies needed to sign you in and protect dashboard/API routes. Polar may set checkout or customer-portal cookies when you use its hosted billing surfaces. Cloudflare may use security or operational mechanisms needed to deliver and protect the site.
Analytics cookies: GA4 cookies are used only after you accept analytics. Google documents GA4 cookies such as _ga and _ga_* for distinguishing users and session state. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on askmanwe.com.
Local storage: askmanwe.com stores only your analytics consent decision and timestamp for the consent banner. The web app at app.askmanwe.com uses localStorage for recent record metadata and UI preferences as described above.
A small number of providers process limited data on our behalf or as independent providers you choose to use with Manwe:
We do not share decision records, generated recordings, uploaded source materials, or booked-call messages with third parties for marketing, sale, or unrelated training by Manwe.
We use data to operate and secure the website, app, and Mac beta; authenticate users; manage subscriptions and budgets; run decision workflows; store records and seed material you choose to keep; generate reports and recordings; respond to support or booked-call requests; understand aggregate site usage after consent; debug failures; prevent abuse; and improve the product. We do not sell personal data, run ad tracking, or profile users for advertising.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. To exercise those rights, write to hello@askmanwe.com and describe your request.
The web app includes account deletion. Where implemented, deletion removes Manwe app rows and R2 artifacts for your briefs and seed material, then deletes the Clerk login. If you have an active subscription, you may need to cancel or manage billing first. Polar, payment processors, and tax/accounting systems may retain billing, invoice, payment, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal records as required by law or their own obligations.
For content stored locally by the Mac beta, the data is already on your machine. You can delete local app data by removing the app's local storage under Application Support, local models, and related files, or by using product controls when available.
We keep account, billing, subscription, and operational records for as long as needed to operate the product, meet legal obligations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and maintain financial records. Web app decision records, generated artifacts, and seed material remain stored until you delete them or close your account, subject to limited backup and operational retention. Email correspondence and booked-call messages are kept as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of the conversation, typically up to 24 months unless a longer period is required by law. Aggregate logs and analytics are kept for security, troubleshooting, and product understanding.
Manwe is not intended for children under 16. Do not use Manwe, send decision material, or book a call on behalf of a child. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact hello@askmanwe.com and we will delete it.
Model providers, billing systems, analytics systems after consent, infrastructure providers, and support systems may process data outside your country, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, or other locations where those providers operate. We use the providers above to deliver the product and expect them to apply their own privacy, security, and transfer safeguards.
We take reasonable measures to protect data we receive, including using established infrastructure providers, authentication, access controls, Keychain storage for Mac API keys, and deletion controls where implemented. No system is perfectly secure. Do not send material through Manwe, booked calls, or email that you would not want disclosed in the unlikely event of a breach.
We may update this policy as Manwe evolves. Substantive changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Manwe after an update means you accept the revised policy.
